Question: |
| Reinstalling
bridge.dll module?
From:
Peter A. Steeves
Subject:
I suspect bridge.dll is a 3rd party dll
Jen
and Ross:
I
searched my two systems (Windows 98 and Windows XP) for bridge.dll:
the file does not exist.
I
suspect bridge.dll is a 3rd party dll required to run a program that you
purchased. Sooner or later you will run the program that needs the
file and you'll be asked to reinstall the program that requires the file.
My Borland compiler has two dll files named something like xxxbridge.dll.
You might have a program on your system that needs the bridge.dll.
On
the other hand you may still have a virus control program on your computer
that is trying to run a virus.exe that is calling bridge.dll that does
not exist. The possibilities are many.

| Reinstalling
bridge.dll module?
From:
Loyal Blair
Subject:
You can delete bridge.dll safely
Jen
and Ross:
Bridge.dll
is a Dynamic Link Library file located in your Registry. Several
sources I have checked with have all said you can delete bridge.dll safely
from the registry.
Deleting
items from the registry should always be done with caution, as modifications
to your registry can cause serious problems. To fix this or
other registry problems, or to improve the performance of your computer,
use a registry cleaner, such as RegScrubXP which is available for free
at : http://majorgeeks.com/download2048.html
.
Hope
this helps.

| Reinstalling
bridge.dll module?
From:
Kurt Schmitt
Subject:
Module is for an adware program
Jen
& Ross,
You
probably don't want that module. It's an adware program. You
are essentially in the clean up stage with respect to that adware app,
and you'll want to finish removing the pieces.
Take
a look here for a little education on specific removal...
http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/w/winfavorites_bridge.asp
http://www.securemost.com/articles/
trou_3_remove_flingstone_bridge.htm
You'll
probably want to run both Spybot and Ad-aware, and then probably go through
some additional removal processes. (Don't confuse "adware" with "Ad-aware.")
If
you need guidance, and if you are unsure about editing the registry, unregistering
.dll's, etc., or you are unsure of anything that I mention here, I highly
recommend that you step on over to computercops.biz and let someone walk
you through using these tools plus hijackthis to fix your parasites (chances
are, if you have one, you have more)...
For
a good example of how this might work for you, go here...
http://computercops.biz/postt14722.html
Register
there by selecting Account - New User Registration (it's free). Post
a message in the Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Oh My forum there asking for
help and explain your situation. Someone will respond and walk you
through downloading and running the appropriate checks and fixes on your
system.
If
you don't want to register, you can select Forums and then post in the
Spyware - Guests forum. Do exactly what they say the way they say it, and
nothing more.
The
tools you need to use and the steps you might take can render your computer
unusable if something goes wrong, so follow what they say and if you are
unsure of what to do, say so and ask for more detailed help in the forum.

Directions:
To
provide a review, take a look at any of the sites and spend 5 - 10 minutes
or more looking at it, and checking out the different links. As you do
so, notice what you do like, what you don't like, and what recommendations
or suggestions you can give. Send your critique to MyInput
You
can pick out three sites at one time, or send them in whenever you feel
like it. We even have some members who find that performing reviews
helps them notice new things for their own site and continue to send in
critiques long after they have met the requirements.
I'll
keep track of the reviews you do, but make sure atleast one of your messages
come with your name and URL so that I know which site you would like reviewed
when it comes time to add your information to the list.

| Shopping24seven:
There were various images unviewable. I did not like the banner layouts.
Seems like there would be a better way to arrange the banners. Site
seemed slow to upload and I have DSL.??
Unfortunately,
the site seemed to have nothing unique about it. Most of the
banners are retailers banners, etc., and I myself - in all reality - would
just go directly to the retailers, etc., websites to make a purchase. Links
were easy to understand and move around in.
*** |
| The
site was just a collection of affiliate links (not that this is a bad thing),
but you gave no compelling reason that I would want to shop at this site.
Also,
there were too many banners and blinking graphics, and it was distracting.
Also, in some categories, there were some things that totally did not see
to fit. - Like Specialty Gifts, there was a huge banner in the middle of
the page, not something I would classify as a specialty gift. That
could almost be a turn-off in certain ways.
On
the other hand, I think the concept is interesting, and could go somewhere,
but it needs to look like it isn't a collection of affiliate links.

Shopping24Seven.com
shows newbieness and laziness. Anyone can cut-and-paste banner code through
a page together and call it a store. Has the author ever purchased anything
from a site like his own. Banners are OK if used discreetly as a sponsored-by
area at the end. What people look for is like a picture of an item with
text telling what the item is and why they should have it, then easy and
consistent cart navigation.

This
is one of those sites that looks like a first-time effort. All the graphics
are animated, everything is spread out, and it's hard to find the links
to the rest of the site. So, here are my suggestions for improving this
site:
-
Remove all unecessary graphics. This means the clock, the door, the line
of stars, the red check, the red welcome. I'd even remove the street and
sky on the left side. If you want to include graphics, include pictures
of what you are selling and have alt tags attached. Also, a lighter background
than the black would look more friendly and inviting.
-
Underline the links and offer the links at the top and the bottom of the
page.
-
Each product page is a jumble of advertisements. The pages each need a
header, a short description, and you might be better off with text links
and information about why you recommend this site and what a person can
expect to find there then just displaying a banner or button.
-
You have a shopping cart, but I didn't see anywhere where I could actually
order products at your website. If you do offer products directly from
your website, make them prominent in your offerings.
-
It looked like all the pages had the same meta tags, title and description.
Put some time and effort into this and you might get some help from the
search engines (but only if you also offer some content). Search engines
don't index pictures and graphics and that is all that's on your site.
You
have a website up, now it's time to make it useable. Look at sites that
you enjoy visiting, see how they make it easy to navigate, easy to see
what you are buying. Look at catalog sites like orvis.com or landsend.com
and read some of the product descriptions to see how to provide information
about your products. Cut down on animated graphics - they are making your
site very slow. Your mission is to offer "easy, safe and convienent" which
should be "convenient". To make this mission real you'll need to spend
more time on your site.

I'm
afraid, that despite it's name, this is nothing more than a collection
of banner ads, leading to other web sites. The overall impression is simply
amateurish, with no attempt to integrate anything together to produce a
more interestingly visual look and feel. Add to that fly in and pop up
ads, no attempt to consider getting it rated by SEs by using the same keywords
etc on every page, it was, to me, a total no-no.
*** |
The
shopping24seven site loaded very slowly, if I wasn't reviewing it I wouldn't
have waited. Clicking on some of the links was even a longer wait and when
the pages loaded there wasn't anything besides advertisements. I couldn't
even tell which page I was on as they all looked the same. This site needs
some content.
